During Lent we will read devotions written by the people of Citrus Church. If you have not already done so, please consider writing a short devotional. Sign-up here.
Joel 21:13 NIV
Most people don’t need to see us make an outward display of our repentance. They know we’ve sinned and that we are in need of forgiveness. They need forgiveness too. Not all people will offer that grace freely and willingly. But God does. The One who has the right and might to judge “relents from sending calamity.”
So, Joel’s invitation to us is to look inward. Get it right with God so we can get it right with others. And when we get it right with others we will know. Because when they turn to us in need of our forgiveness, they will find that we too can be “gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love.”
Bible Verse:
Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity.Joel 21:13 NIV
