Bible Verse: Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again,¹⁴ but whoever drinks from the water that I will give will never be thirsty again. The water that I give will become in those who drink it a spring of water that bubbles up into eternal life.” John 4:13-14

Reflection:

I visited the site in Galilee where it's believed that Jesus proclaimed these words. They've built a beautiful fountain with flowing water. On a plaque in the middle is this verse. Ironically, next to the fountain is a small sign that says in several languages, "Water not for drinking." Talk about mixed messages.

Christians often give mixed messages. We say one thing, and do another. A quote, often attributed to St. Francis of Assisi says, "Preach the Gospel at all times. Use words if necessary." In a world suspect of Christians, may our compassionate actions bubble up and nourish those around us. Let's allow the spring of water to overflow in all that we do today.
