Bible Verse: Before the Festival of Passover, Jesus knew that his time had come to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them fully. Jesus and his disciples were sharing the evening meal. The devil had already provoked Judas, Simon Iscariot’s son, to betray Jesus. - John 13:1-2

Reflection: John tells us that Jesus "loved His own...and loved them fully." This includes Judas, the one who would betray Him. Jesus knew what Judas was plotting, and what it would mean for Him. What makes Jesus stand out is not only His love for those who are like-minded, and can be called friends. We see the true nature of God revealed in Jesus' love for his enemies.

For me, growth in Christlikeness means allowing the "Way of Christ" to have its way in me. It seems impossible to love those who have betrayed, hurt, and bullied me. In my own strength it is impossible! But, with Christ-in-me (and Christ-in-you), we too can love our enemies.
